“When Good Habits Go Wrong”
She was 36.
Living with migraines for over 10 years.
She had tried everything — and last year, we began preventive therapy.
It helped.
Her migraine attacks reduced significantly.
But then the episodes returned.
Twice a week.
Pulsating. Disruptive. Exhausting.
She wasn’t on any prophylactic now.
She was, however, doing intermittent fasting —
eating her last meal at 5 PM
and her next meal at 8:30 AM.
Almost 18–19 hours of fasting daily.
And that, I told her gently, could be a major reason for the migraine comeback.
But she didn’t want to hear it.
She kept comparing her condition to her mother’s —
another patient I had treated earlier
whose migraines had almost completely disappeared.
She asked again and again:
“Why am I not getting the same result?”
“Why is it not working for me?”
“Isn’t fasting supposed to help?”
And I understood something deeper…
🧘♂️ Healing isn’t just about doing more.
It’s about understanding your body’s needs.
What works for one person may not work for another.
And even good habits — like intermittent fasting —
can harm when not aligned with your unique physiology.
I say this with compassion:
👉 If you’re skipping meals, especially if you suffer from migraines…
you may be unintentionally triggering your pain.
Because the brain needs nourishment.
Not just medication.
🌿 At HSR Neuro Clinic, we treat the whole person — not just the label.
We don’t compare.
We listen, we observe, and we explain — with patience and care.
